Director Design

ABC Digital is currently looking for a creative, entertainment-savvy DIRECTOR, DESIGN to join our team and help to push the digital envelope. Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the ABC Digital Creative team and all things ABC.com. Direct responsibility for the look and feel of the site and direct oversight of a team of creative staff. Oversee a team of 10 with responsibility for individual and team performance, career development, and training. Primarily responsible for cultivating and communicating the strategic creative vision of the site and will be the liaison to stakeholders including the Network design team, Ad Sales, Marketing, and Photography. In charge of overseeing a team that is responsible for site layout, specific features, mobile applications, callouts, banner ads, art directing vendors, motion design, photo editing, and advertiser integrations. Information design and visual story telling is an important aspect of the job. Must be able to provide designs and experiences that speak to our fans and extend the relationship they have with their favorite show on-line. Effectively communicate overall design strategy to the digital team and other stakeholder groups. Position reports directly to the SVP- Digital Media.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years in the digital media space, including consumer facing websites and applications Keen overall understanding of the consumer facing digital space, strategy and direction 5+ years in design in the consumer facing digital space 2+ years managing a team of designers A proven leader and a professional Designer that takes a thoughtful, long-term view of design, works with care and detail, and has the ability to articulate clearly and effectively why design choices were made. Extensive knowledge of design trends and designing for the web. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Flash (AS3 ability will go a long way) will be your daily programs. Ability to develop ideas for television shows and brand extensions on the web. Ability to organize projects and assets, recognize what imagery, photos and color works well and does not work well on the web. Someone who has the skills and abilities to plan design strategically and also manage day-to-day production design. Problem-solver and self-starter who can take accountability and ownership of projects from start to finish. The ability to visually story tell and be strong at visual communication Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with proven skills in project management Ability to manage both tactical and strategic projects on a tight timeline in the midst of constant change.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience effectively organizing a design team to maximize efficiency, creativity, and team morale Gaming, media, or entertainment industry environment experience preferred.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in art, design, graphic design, or new media or equivalent combination of work experience
