Director Executive Talent Development

The Disney/ABC Television Group is composed of The Walt Disney Company’s (NYSE: DIS) global entertainment and news television properties, owned television stations group, as well as radio and publishing businesses. This includes the ABC Television Network, ABC Owned Television Stations Group, ABC Studios, Disney Channels Worldwide, ABC Family and SOAPnet, as well as Disney/ABC Domestic Television and Disney Media Distribution. The Radio Disney network, Hyperion publishing, and the Company’s equity interest in A&E Television Networks round out the Group’s portfolio of media businesses.

The Director of Executive Talent Development is responsible for creating the strategy and implementation of a leadership architecture that attracts, develops and retains the talent required to achieve our business objectives now and for the future. This role will oversee and manage all aspects of the DATG Executive Talent Development programs. The success of this role requires an effective partnership with many HR functions that includes the following: work with Recruitment to integrate leadership attributes into recruitment strategy and tools, Learning and Development to develop curriculum and programs that support a common leadership framework, Organizational Effectiveness to ensure executive development aligns with talent progression and planning, Diversity to ensure we attract and develop the most diverse team, and HR Business Partners to align talent management programs, development assignments that meet our client’s business needs.

Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Create and operationalize a common Leadership framework / model for developing leaders that integrates all aspects of learning (i.e., structured, experiential, coaching, mentoring, job assignments). Provide expert advice and counsel to business and HR executives on the development of leadership and executive talent. This includes setting direction for strategy, ensuring integration of other key HR practices, and deploying solutions that will drive results. Evaluate and recommend the use of leadership assessments (i.e., instruments, best practice methodologies on when and how to use them most effectively, etc.) Determine role of executive coaching in executive leadership development plans and oversee quality of coaches to ensure return on investment. Evaluate current coaching program, existing use, effectiveness of assignments to ensure development goals are met, and recommend improvements. Manage vendors and service providers of executive coaching and 360 feedback systems. Mentor Program – support the management of annual process for executive and manager level programs (i.e, nomination, “training for new mentors,” kick-off session for mentees, and support of program administration). In collaboration with the HR and specialty partners, support development of experiential based programs that could include global stretch assignments and/or projects addressing critical business challenges. Implement a measurement framework to track the progress of DATG executive talent. Advise and consult management teams at DATG on leadership and employee development gaps and issues. Proactively monitor, track and evaluate impact of various programs and processes.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree Minimum of 8 years of experience in Human Resources, Leadership Development, Organization Development, Learning and Development, or Business Consulting with at least 5 of those years in a management role. Able to assess complex organizational and business needs and effectively navigate to appropriate leadership, learning and development solutions with minimal direction required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with top executives and HR colleagues to support business results and to identify and resolve issues. Demonstrated ability to effectively balance strategy with operational execution within an HR Business Partner model. Outstanding ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high level results. Strong analytical skills, business planning, and project management skills. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Collaborates effectively with others. Exhibits a personal responsibility and commitment to his/her work. Personally reflects the values of diversity. Professional executive demeanor. Highly versatile interpersonal skills; Demonstrates sound judgment and ability to act with speed.

Preferred Qualifications
A Master’s degree or equivalent business experience in Human Resources, Organization Development, Learning and Development, or related field is preferred. Prior HR Business Partner experience. Preference will be given to candidates with previous Entertainment and Media experience.
