Director Business Affairs
The Director, Business Affairs for Disney Jr. is expected to work in a collaborative fashion with the DC/DXD/DJr Hub members, other departmental members, and members of related departments, including Creative, Production, Production Finance, Programming, Acquisitions, Marketing, Brand Management, and Digital Media.
Responsibilities
Structure, negotiate and document agreements for “above-the-line” talent in all aspects of TV including movies, pilot/series (script, alternative, animation, etc.) Negotiate network deals (acquisitions, co-productions, licenses, etc.) Close deals and get to signature on performer test-option deals and short-form contracts Work hand-in-hand with Legal to get long-form agreements signed within required timeframes Successful management, coordination and oversight of projects and issues Successfully liaise with Legal, other departments, other divisions, talent representatives and other 3rd parties (e.g., producers, agents) Contribute toward “best practices” by following and improving departmental process and procedures (e.g., deal parameters, getting to greenlight, deal memo templates) Ability to contribute to innovative and creative problem solving on deals and projects Continue to develop top negotiating skills and entertainment law related expertise Team player
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of 8+ years of combined experience in a law firm and/or network/studio, with strong preference for studio/production business affairs experience negotiating scripted series television Exceptional negotiating skills Strong drafting abilities
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of business affairs and/or legal affairs experience, with a combination of law firm and network/studio experience Solid expertise with respect to guild and union agreements, contract, 1st Amendment, defamation, and intellectual property law In-depth, deal-making experience with respect to live action/scripted series, reality programming, and scripted television movies; network acquisitions, co-productions, production services agreements and animation (series, shorts and interstitials) Business affairs and/or legal affairs experience within Disney/ABC

Required Education
JD State Bar Membership (or Registered In-House Counsel)
